Network research
Know your network.
Change your organization.
Alter Analytics reveals how people in an organization really collaborate, beyond the formal org chart, and turns those insights into concrete change.
What does network research make visible?
The real organization behind the org chart
Informal key players
Who actually keeps the organization running, even when the org chart does not show them.
Silent bottlenecks
Where knowledge piles up or decisions stall on a choke point that formally does not exist.
Teams in silos
Which departments are well connected and which operate in isolation, for instance after a reorganization.
What is network research?
Measuring how collaboration really works
Every organization has an official structure made up of departments, teams and roles. But the way people actually collaborate, share knowledge and solve problems rarely follows the official lines of the org chart. Network research, also known as organizational network analysis (ONA), maps those actual patterns.
Through a short questionnaire, usually ten to fifteen minutes per employee, we map who works with whom, who is asked for advice, and where information stalls. The result is a network map with concrete starting points.
- Insight into vulnerable knowledge hubs.
- Grounding for decisions around reorganization, innovation or hybrid working.
- A shared, data-based language to talk about collaboration.
Who we are
Alter Analytics: a name with a double meaning
In network science, alter refers to the other person in a network; at the same time, alter is Latin for to change. That is exactly our focus: understanding relationships as the starting point for organizational change. We combine scientific methods with practical application for executives, HR professionals and team leaders.
