What does network analysis deliver?

A network analysis reveals how collaboration, knowledge, and influence actually flow through your organization, independent of the org chart. The value is not in the map, but in the costs you avoid and the decisions you ground better.

The core. A network analysis turns an invisible risk into a manageable fact. Afterwards you know not just that collaboration stalls, but where, with whom, and what it costs you to do nothing.

Three hidden costs made visible

Network analysis does not calculate returns for you. It exposes costs you are already carrying but cannot see. Three patterns we encounter again and again:

The vulnerable hub. One person turns out to be the actual linchpin of the network, without the org chart showing it. If that person leaves, a knowledge or coordination line disappears that nobody had named. The cost of replacing an employee is typically estimated at one-half to two times their annual salary.1

The silent bottleneck. Decision-making runs through a chokepoint that does not formally exist. The result is waiting time: dozens of employees losing hours per week because information or approval has to pass through one overloaded link.

The island after the reorganization. Two teams that were merged on paper turn out to still be completely separate in the network. The intended synergy never materializes, while the reorganization costs have already been incurred. A large share of mergers and reorganizations fail to realize their planned synergies, often because teams never actually blend.2

Run the numbers yourself

The strongest business case uses your own figures, not our promises. The tables below give the order of magnitude of what one invisible bottleneck is costing you today. Fill in your own assumptions.

Cost of a silent bottleneck (per year). Worked example: 25 × 1.5 × 45 × ± 46 working weeks. Replace with your own assumptions.
VariableExampleYour figure
Number of employees involved25
Hours lost per person per week1.5
Average labor cost per hour€ 45
Indicative annual cost± € 78,000
Cost of a vulnerable hub (one-off). Indication based on common estimates for knowledge loss and replacement, for illustration only.
VariableExampleYour figure
Annual salary of key person€ 80,000
Knowledge-loss risk factor (0.5–2×)1.5×
Indicative cost of unplanned departure± € 120,000

Conclusion. The question is not what a network analysis costs, but what it costs you not to know your network.

What each service delivers

Each service addresses a different kind of question, but the logic is always the same: a relatively small, focused investment that makes a much larger cost visible and manageable.

Network Scan · You stop guessing where collaboration stalls and aim your change or advisory budget at the actual chokepoint. One silent bottleneck easily costs tens of thousands of euros per year (see the worked example above). Set against such recurring costs, the scan is a small, focused investment to determine where to intervene. For you: a fact instead of a hunch, before you start an expensive program on the wrong question.

Organizational Network Analysis · When the stakes are high, the analysis protects an investment you have already made or are about to make. A key person on an € 80,000 salary easily represents ± € 120,000 in knowledge loss on unplanned departure.1 And on a € 2 million synergy case, a full analysis is a small cost to test early whether the intended integration is actually taking hold. For you: visibility on whether the synergy is really emerging, and on where crucial knowledge is vulnerable.

Network Monitoring · The only instrument that shows whether a reorganization or culture program is actually changing how people work together. If you adjust course after the first measurement round instead of pushing on blindly, you can deploy the remaining budget far more precisely. For you: measurable insight into whether your investment is landing, with an early warning to adjust.

Personalized Network Report · Every employee receives a concrete, personal development instrument from the same data, at a fraction of the cost of individual coaching (easily € 1,500–3,000 per person). For you: an accessible development instrument for your key people, without a separate, expensive coaching program.

Workshops and Lunch & Learn · A team gains a shared language for collaboration and the insight that friction is often a matter of structure, not of people. If one session prevents one unnecessary reorganization debate, the time saved quickly exceeds the cost. It is also a low-threshold way to judge whether network analysis fits your question. For you: a team that understands its own collaboration better.

Innovation & Development Programs · Innovation rarely fails for lack of ideas; it fails because the right people never find each other. The program helps knowledge and expertise you already have in-house circulate more deliberately. For you: better use of knowledge and talent you are already paying for, but that currently sits idle.

From diagnosis to action

A network analysis does not end with a picture. It points out which connector to position, which bridge to reinforce before a change, and which knowledge hub to relieve before it collapses.

  1. Map how collaboration and knowledge actually flow.
  2. Locate the vulnerable hubs, bottlenecks, and islands.
  3. Act on a concrete perspective, and measure again over time.

Privacy by design. Privacy and data security are an integral part of how we work. By default we report pseudonymized at the level of patterns and groups; you decide the level of identifiability, from fully anonymous to reporting by name for targeted development, always transparently and with participants’ knowledge. What does a network analysis cost?

The price depends on scope and question: a Network Scan is a focused first step, a full Organizational Network Analysis a larger program. More important than the price is the ratio: set the costs above (a silent bottleneck of tens of thousands of euros per year) against the investment in making it visible. Want a specific indication for your situation? We are happy to give you one in a no-obligation conversation.
